Experience:
5 years of experience in quality engineering or related. Requires skills and experience to involve: Demonstrated experience with supplier audits, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and production ramp-ups. Demonstrated knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), control plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Eight Diagram (8D) root cause analysis, tolerancing, control and inspection standards, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and capability studies. Demonstrated experience launching new products and improving quality systems. Demonstrated experience with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), electromechanical assemblies, injection molding, casting, and stamping manufacturing processes. Demonstrated experience interpreting engineering drawings and using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Proficiency in ISO 9001 and
IATF 16949
quality systems. Demonstrated experience generating formal reports or presentations for customers.
Job duties:
The Senior Quality Engineer position will lead supplier partner and Contract Manufacturer (CM) industrialization process from design through production ramp-up. Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, and procedures, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) through the start of production with supplier partner and/or Contract Manufacturer (CM) as well as Aurora's Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers. Lead the development of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA), Control Plan, capability analysis, Measurement System Analysis (MSAs), Design of Experiments (DOEs), etc. in alignment with automotive APQP and PPAP requirements and activities. Communicate with Aurora design and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to develop Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (dFMEAs), Process Flow Diagram (PFD), and Work Instructions at supplier partner and/or CM. Confer with Aurora design and NPI teams to support supplier partner and/or CM with tooling, equipment, and process qualifications. Analyzestatistical data and product specifications to determine supplier partner and/or CM readiness for each build phase and help manage production risks. Lead root cause and corrective action efforts for any supplier partner and/or CM related quality issues from production or field returns. Monitor and report supplier partner and/or CM quality metrics both internally and externally to Aurora's OEM customers to recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Use lean tools, statistical techniques and analytical methods to achieve effective problem solving, root cause discovery and corrective action (Eight Diagram (8D) Problem Solving, 5-Why) both internally and externally. Closely collaborate with other crossfunctional teams throughout the industrialization phases to ensure products meet industry and Aurora's quality standard. Trains supplier on Aurora quality system, process, and review part quality documentations (e.g. Part Submission Warrant (PSW) elements) Support the development and continuous improvement of Aurora quality management systems with a focus on APQP and supplier partner/ CM management.
