Position Overview:
Lead reliability improvements for CNC machining centers to enhance equipment availability, OEE, and process capability. Utilize structured reliability methods (TPM, RCCA, PFMEA, predictive maintenance) to eliminate chronic losses and stabilize throughput. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to embed a reliability-focused culture and standard work .

No Years of experience required: 10 - 20 Years Typical task breakdown: Perform data analysis & support maintenance team to improve machine availability. Lead data‑driven reliability initiatives for critical assets, with a primary focus on increasing machine uptime and MTBF. Analyze Llumin downtime data to identify recurring issues and find reliability gaps. Initiate RCCA efforts for chronic failures, ensuring PCAs are put in place to address true root causes. Evaluate preventive maintenance activities against actual downtime drivers. Identify gaps and ineffective PMs. Propose data-driven PM improvements, frequency/interval changes, and new PM tasks. Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, and OEMs/Integrators on inspections, diagnostics, and corrective actions on critical assets. Track machine health indicators such as MTBF, MTTR, availability, and PM compliance. Put together clear one-pagers, detailing failures and what must change to stop them. Develop repeatable reliability analysis processes that can be duplicated across multiple machines and value streams. Position s Contributions to
Work Group :
Black Belt certification (optional) with a focus on machining centers maintenance operations, reliability data analytics (Statistical Data Analysis / Llumin maintenance data / Power BI) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities. Experience in manufacturing operations, RCCA on maintenance repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards. Improve machine availability & OEE through loss analysis & corrective actions. Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and develop actionable recommendations for improvement. Manage critical spares and obsolescence strategy. Lead root cause investigations and implement permanent fixes.
Additional Responsibilities:
Deploy TPM and operator care on constraint machining centers. Influence reliability in new equipment design and commissioning. Implement predictive maintenance (vibration, lubrication, thermal monitoring) initiative. Coach operators and technicians on defect tagging and basic care. Interaction with team : Daily Work environment : Office / Shop floor
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial) and/or Minimum 10 years of experience Technical Skills (Required) CNC machining Centers & misc. assets maintenance operation experience Statistical & reliability data analytics , & root cause analysis Microsoft O365 / Power BI (Desired) Black Belt certified Llumin CMMS+ https://llumin.com/ Project Management, New Capital Introduction (NCI) Hands-on CNC experience, including machine setup Operation / Programming / Coaching Soft Skills (Required) Clear and fluent English with both oral and written communications Growth mindset, aggressive and outgoing to learn processes at Caterpillar Ability to work independently and with a team Work with a sense of urgency but must be balanced with priorities given to Safety & Ergonomics as well as Quality.
