Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist to support commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects across a variety of facility and infrastructure environments. This role involves both field and office-based work, leading and performing commissioning activities including system startup, functional performance testing, QA/QC verification, and operational readiness assessments. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design requirements. Candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S., with current project needs concentrated in Northern Virginia and Arizona. This position requires approximately 50% travel , including extended periods at project sites. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute commissioning activities for building and facility systems, including startup, testing, verification, and functional performance testing. Perform QA/QC inspections and validate system performance against design intent and project requirements. Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and facility personnel throughout the commissioning process. Develop, review, and maintain commissioning documentation, test procedures, reports, and deficiency tracking logs. Support commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects to improve operational performance and system reliability. Verify compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and testing requirements. Provide technical guidance during equipment startup and system turnover activities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years of progressive commissioning experience involving: Utility infrastructure Life safety systems Electrical power systems Low-voltage systems Building and facility systems Facility operations and maintenance (O&M) Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA, and NICET standards and electrical testing requirements. Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, system troubleshooting, and performance verification. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Mission Critical/Data Center experience is highly preferred. Ability to travel approximately 50% , including extended assignments at project sites. Preferred Experience Mission Critical or Data Center commissioning projects. Experience with complex facility systems and integrated building technologies. Previous client-facing consulting or commissioning experience. #
GRPA Pay:
