it relates to rotating equipment systems; drive LOPC incident
reduction and demonstrate a sustained commitment to reducing
operational and maintenance safety risks.
- Assist Machinery Inspectors with troubleshooting equipment and
provide actionable recommendations for machinery problems to
assigned business teams.
- Lead or participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and risk
analysis investigations to identify systemic issues and eliminate
repeat failures.
- Evaluate current equipment performance to develop and support short
- and long-term reliability plans, capital projects, and turnaround
scope through execution.
- Develop bad actor resolutions, repair and maintenance strategies,
and design alternatives that address health, safety, environmental,
reliability, operability, and maintainability considerations.
- Review and develop operating and maintenance procedures related to
rotating equipment.
- Initiate Management of Change (MOC) documents and complete
associated engineering reviews for rotating equipment changes in
assigned areas.
- Support day-to-day troubleshooting and performance monitoring to
ensure machinery operability, environmental compliance, and process
safety.
- Provide scope definition and technical oversight to external vendor
shops executing machinery repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 or more years of experience in refinery, petrochemical, or
equivalent industrial machinery design, repair, and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of national codes and standards including API,
ANSI, and ASME.
- Experience in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and bad actor
troubleshooting.
- Exposure to steam turbines, centrifugal and positive displacement
pumps and compressors, lubrication systems, mechanical seals, and
vibration monitoring equipment.
- Familiarity with machinery performance analysis including compressor
and pump efficiency evaluation, vibration analysis, and hydraulic
analysis.
- Understanding basic instrument design and low voltage applications,
construction, and operating principles as they relate to machinery
monitoring and protection systems.
- Experience with machinery condition monitoring tools such as Bentley
Nevada System 1, SKF, and Windrock.
- Willingness to work an adjusted schedule during high-maintenance
events such as turnarounds, project execution, and equipment
overhauls.
- Participation in the refinery on-call Mechanical Team duty rotation
for off-hours support, with the ability to respond to abnormal plant
operation events.
