Job Description

Our client, an established manufacturer in the Upstate South Carolina region, is looking to add a Quality Engineer to their team. This position partners closely with production staff, engineering, and leadership to surface problems, build solutions, and advance continuous improvement within a high-volume production setting. Specific client information will be provided to candidates as they advance through the hiring process. Key Responsibilities Build, roll out, and refine quality systems such as control plans, inspection plans, and standard procedures Oversee inspection and testing across incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished goods to confirm they meet specification Spend significant time on the production floor working alongside operators to catch and resolve quality concerns as they arise Apply structured problem-solving methods to determine root causes and put corrective and preventive measures in place Track and interpret quality metrics (e.g., scrap, rework, defect patterns) using statistical methods to lower variability and guide decisions Lead improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening product quality and overall operational performance Manage customer concerns, returns, and nonconforming material through proper documentation and timely follow-through Contribute to supplier quality activities, including material validation and supplier corrective action follow-up Take part in internal and external audits and help maintain compliance with the quality management system Keep quality records accurate and current, including reports, procedures, and compliance documentation Coach and train production staff on standards, inspection techniques, and best practices Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline preferred 2+ years in a quality engineering or comparable role within a manufacturing setting Solid grounding in quality assurance principles, tools, and production processes Hands-on experience with root cause analysis and effective corrective action Comfort with statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents Process improvement or quality certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, CQE) are a plus Experience with statistical and quality software and ERP systems preferred
