Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the overall quality, reliability, and compliance of Isuzu's medium-duty commercial vehicles, including gasoline, diesel, and electric models. This includes support across all lifecycle stages-assembly, testing, launch, and field performance-and involves driving issue resolution, robust process controls, and continuous improvement. The role also includes ownership of the plant Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring
ISO 9001
compliance, effective documentation control, audit readiness, and the deployment of core quality tools across departments. This position plays a key role in enabling cross-functional alignment, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead quality planning and execution for new vehicle programs (from concept/design to full production), ensuring robust launch quality and production stability Participate in and lead APQP processes including PFMEA, control plans, process flow diagrams, capability studies, and design reviews Define, deploy, and maintain control plans, inspection plans, gaging strategies, test methods, and measurement systems (MSA) Conduct root cause analysis and corrective & preventive action (8D, Shainin/RedX, 5 Whys, Ishikawa/fishbone) for internal, supplier, and field quality issues Monitor key quality metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, warranty, field returns) and drive improvement initiatives to meet performance targets Serve as the quality liaison across design, manufacturing, test, logistics, purchasing, service, and field support teams Conduct and support internal audits (e.g., ISO 9001) and maintain quality system compliance Participate in model changes, design changes, stage reviews, and change control processes with a focus on risk mitigation Lead or support failure analysis, validation trials, and corrective testing activities Drive continuous improvement (kaizen, lean, Six Sigma) to improve defect prevention, reduce variation, and optimize quality processes Mentor junior engineers and manufacturing staff on quality tools, problem-solving, and best practices Interface with customers or regulatory bodies as needed to address complaints, field issues, or product investigations Prepare and present quality dashboards and reports to management, highlighting trends, risks, and key actions Support field investigations or product troubleshooting in customer environments Stay current on industry best practices, evolving standards, and new quality tools or technologies Perform other duties as assigned to support company and department goals Develop, implement, and maintain the plant Quality Management System in accordance with
ISO 9001.
Ensure quality system readiness for pre-production, SOP, and mass production milestones. Ensure QMS documentation (policies, procedures, work instructions, records) is controlled, current, and effectively deployed. Plan, conduct, and report internal system audits, process audits, and layered process audits (LPA) and support external audits as needed (certification bodies, corporate audits). Support deployment of core quality tools (PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC) from a system and governance perspective.
Required Education, Training and & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related technical field) 7+ years of progressive quality engineering experience in an automotive, commercial vehicle, or manufacturing environment Proven experience with inspection systems, quality auditing, defect tracking, root cause analysis, preventive/corrective action processes, KPI analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives Demonstrated application of quality methodologies such as
APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC
Experience interfacing with OEM or Tier 1 suppliers and customers to resolve quality issues and drive improvement Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret quality data, read blueprints, and apply GD&T principles Prior experience supporting product launch, new model introduction, and cross-functional reviews is a plus ISO 9001 or
IATF 16949
knowledge; prior audit experience required.

Whys) Skilled in using Power BI, Minitab, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration Ability to lead corrective action follow-up and support training of quality best practices Demonstrated analytical problem-solving in fast-paced environments Knowledge of safety and environmental practices in manufacturing Attention to detail, follow-through, and influence without authority.
