Job Description

Position OverviewThe Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the performance, reliability, and lifecycle of critical rotating equipment within a continuous-process manufacturing environment. This role drives reliability strategies that enhance equipment uptime, process efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams, the engineer plays a key role in identifying failure modes, implementing preventative strategies, and supporting long-term asset performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with maintenance, operations, and technical teams to establish and achieve equipment reliability goals.

Develop, implement, and monitor predictive and preventative maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared thermography.

Provide daily technical support to maintenance personnel, supervisors, and engineers for troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.

Lead root cause failure analysis efforts for rotating equipment and mechanical system failures.

Support planning and execution of plant turnaround and shutdown activities.

Provide technical input to prioritize repairs and define scope for maintenance work.

Develop and manage reliability improvement projects focused on rotating equipment and mechanical systems.

Review engineering and capital projects to ensure compliance with plant standards and industry best practices.

Assist in developing and maintaining plant mechanical and safety engineering standards.

Complete engineering design and documentation for plant improvements and modifications.

Review vendor and supplier documentation and witness equipment testing when required.

Support safety and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Participate in on-call responsibilities to support plant operations as needed.

QualificationsBachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.

Extensive experience in reliability, maintenance, or mechanical engineering within a manufacturing environment.

Strong experience with rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, screw), pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, diaphragm), and associated systems.

Working knowledge of compressor control systems and mechanical system integration.

Experience with reliability methodologies such as RCFA, RCM, or similar approaches.

Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.

Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and industrial safety practices.
