Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance programs on the manufacturing floor to ensure continuous production of products that meet established customer requirements. This role focuses primarily on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and switchgear manufacturing, working closely with multiple manufacturing sites to drive timely completion of quality improvement activities. The Quality Engineer uses data-driven methods to improve processes, enhance product reliability, and support cross-functional teams in resolving quality issues and elevating overall performance. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and direct quality assurance programs on the manufacturing floor to ensure consistent production that meets customer and internal quality requirements. Work closely with manufacturing sites to ensure timely completion of quality improvement activities, with a primary focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and switchgear manufacturing. Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, investigate quality issues, and conduct root cause analysis in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions based on data, root cause findings, and quality performance metrics. Develop and lead quality improvement projects using prioritized metrics such as cost of quality, inspection data, and customer quality escapes. Prepare comprehensive reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing quality and process data, and present solution proposals to leadership. Perform quality audits and establish quality standards for incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products. Lead cross-functional teams in continuous improvement initiatives and support deployment of best practices across all applicable sites. Report on complex quality analyses and defective products, and recommend necessary quality procedures and process changes. Ensure compliance with quality requirements throughout all testing, validation phases, and documentation processes. Provide technical leadership on quality topics and assist in training teams on problem-solving techniques and quality tools. Support mitigation of customer complaints as part of a cross-functional response team, including investigation and resolution of issues. Review and manage nonconforming material disposition and oversee inspection of reworked product to ensure conformity. Support the product development process by providing key quality inputs, risk-based assessments, and feedback on design and manufacturing considerations. Facilitate, lead, and train teams in 8D, DMAIC, and 5-Why problem-solving methodologies to drive sustainable corrective actions. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience in a quality-focused role. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience working with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and/or switchgear component manufacturing. Minimum 1 year of Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience. Experience creating work instructions, procedures, and developing control plans. Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience. Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques, including structured problem-solving methods. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with quality engineering in environments involving electrical components and electrical assembly. Knowledge of statistical process control methods and their application in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in quality engineering within BESS or switchgear-related manufacturing environments. Familiarity with Six Sigma principles or methodologies. Experience working with switchgear, electrical components, and electrical assembly processes. Experience leading or participating in 8D, DMAIC, and 5-Why problem-solving activities. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple sites. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable improvements. Interest in contributing to a rapidly growing organization and adapting to evolving processes and systems. Willingness to relocate, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate. Work Environment This role is based in a brand-new, large-scale, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility designed to support high-volume production of advanced electrical products such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and switchgear. The standard work schedule runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interaction between quality, engineering, and production teams and access to modern manufacturing and quality tools. The facility emphasizes continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and professional growth within a rapidly expanding organization. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $125000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
