Description:
Quality Engineer Staff This position will report to the Quality Manager of F-35 Low Observable (LO) Finishes with responsibility for supporting F-35 Product-Quality activities to support the following build areas: Component Final Finishes (CFF), Landside Final Finishes (LFF), Aircraft Finishing Facility (AFF) and the DD-250 build areas (aircraft touch-up and product data package preparation stage for sale to USG).
Specific responsibilities include:
Providing timely, responsive, and exceptional Quality Inspection capabilities to support LO activities throughout the entire build process spanning multiple Production Directorates, primarily in CFF, LFF and AFF. Will be expected to build and maintain professional working relationships with teams across the F-35 program including Production, DCMA, Program Management, Engineering & Technology, Material/Process/Product Engineering, Flight Sciences, and Quality & Mission Success (Q&MS) colleagues. Conduct Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities to support Action Requests (AR) from field customers, Corrective Action Requests (CAR) from internal DCMA customer, and internal Quality Assurance Record (QAR) and Internal Corrective Action (ICA) activities/functions that address product nonconformances and Quality/FOD escapes. Identify and pursue opportunities for process and product improvement across build areas. Basic Qualifications:
Advanced understanding and experience completing root cause analysis and corrective action planning Knowledgeable of AS9100 standard and experience with reviewing or performing AS9102 First Article Inspections Basic understanding of statistical and data analytic skills Ability to interpret drawings and specifications for development of quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for inspection and test of manufactured products An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Desired Skills:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified Experience with Minitab, Tableau, and Business Objects for data analytic/dashboard creation F-35 production operations experience Experience with Low Observable (LO) Finishes/Coating Technology and/or processes Experience with Product-Quality methods either from the quality or manufacturing perspective Ability to effectively navigate complex product and process-related requirements to validate nonconformances and develop corrective actions in coordination with DCMA and Production colleagues Experience with Microsoft Office Systems, Shop Floor Manager (SFM) or similar manufacturing management systems, Product Data Management (PDM) or similar engineering database, APRISO Documentation System (Discrepancy Reports) or similar system American Society for Quality (ASQ): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQOE) certification Excellent interpersonal skills needed for collaboration, communication, and presentations Conduct/coordinate process and product evaluations and assessments
