Job Description
DescriptionAmazon Robotics develops state-of-the-art robotics solutions to power Amazon's world-class Fulfillment Operations, which handle more single items than any other company. Our collaborative team is at the forefront of building automated manipulation products to handle and process packages and singular items. Since 2012, Amazon has developed, produced, and deployed more than 750,000 robots across its operations network. Technology Deployment (TD) in Robotics Deployment and Packaging Innovation (RDPI) organization is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to assist in driving strategic and tactical quality activities for deployment of complex Fulfillment Technologies and Robotics (FTR) solutions. This individual will assist in developing and implementing foundational elements of a right-sized Quality Management System (QMS) for TD. In this role, the individual will partner with stakeholders to ensure quality systems, processes and tools are in place to support deployment of existing and new technologies. The ideal candidate knows how to navigate and thrive in ambiguous and complex environment, has a passion for continuous improvement, excellent analytical abilities, technical skills and effective written and verbal communication. This is a global role supporting quality activities across North America, Europe and APAC. Key job responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
- Collaborate with design engineering and TD teams to define quality requirements in work instructions (WIs) and verification plans (i.e. QA/QC, inspection).
- Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining quality standards tailored to TD.
- Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining foundational QMS elements (e.g. Document Management, NCM, CAPA, Audit).
- Perform Quality Review of NPI deliverables (i.e. WI, verification plans) for deployment engineering.
- Assist in adopting and maintaining APQP by facilitating PFMEA, generating Control Plan and incorporating in WIs and verification plans.
- Own development of quality key performance indicators (KPIs) including tracking, monitoring and reporting.
- Assist in adopting and maintaining an appropriate sampling plan for inspection of assembled and installed technologies to help TD scale deployment.
- Partner with deployment engineering to perform Measurement System Analysis on critical inspection, test and measurement systems used in deployment.
- Own calibration/certification program for critical tools and equipment used by 3rd party assemblers (3PAs) and deployment engineers.
- Collaborate with upstream processes (manufacturing and supply chain) on driving down quality escapes to TD.
- Perform on-site quality audits of deployment and drive implementation and effectiveness of remediation.
- Collaborate with Partners team in TD to define and maintain quality requirements to hold 3PAs accountable.
- This position requires up to 50% travel (domestic and international).
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, process engineering, project management, mechanical or robotics assembly and install.
- 2+ years of experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools or any other industry standard process improvement tools to drive process changes.
- Six Sigma Green Belt
