Job Description

Job Title:
Quality Engineer Role Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring product, process, and supplier quality within a sheet metal manufacturing environment. This role supports production teams, resolves customer quality issues, and drives continuous improvement to reduce defects, scrap, and rework. The Quality Engineer works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to promote a strong culture of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS), including NCRs, corrective actions, root cause analysis, 8D problem solving, and internal audits. Manage customer quality issues, complaints, and warranty claims by investigating root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Track and report quality metrics and KPIs related to product quality, processes, and supplier performance. Lead inspection activities (supplier, receiving, in‑process, and final) for fabricated sheet metal parts and assemblies. Qualify and develop suppliers to meet quality standards and support continuous improvement. Support production teams by managing nonconforming material and providing guidance on corrective actions. Provide quality training and coaching to manufacturing and engineering teams. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to resolve quality issues and improve product reliability. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce scrap, rework, defects, and process inefficiencies. Promote a strong safety and quality culture on the manufacturing floor. Support internal and external audits and maintain quality documentation such as procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment. Strong experience with quality tools and methodologies (NCR, CAPA, RCA, 8D). Experience managing and improving QMS processes. Ability to develop and analyze quality metrics and KPIs. Experience with supplier quality and inspection activities. Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with metal fabrication, welding, and painting. Familiarity with SolidWorks and engineering drawings. Experience with ERP, MRP, or PDM systems. Knowledge of ANSI drafting standards. Experience working in an
ISO 9001
environment. Lean or Six Sigma experience or certification. Work Environment This role is split between the office and manufacturing floor. The Quality Engineer works hands‑on with production teams, suppliers, and inspectors while also managing documentation, metrics, and systems. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Appleton, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
