Job Description
Job Summary The Quality Engineer provides quality support and leadership for all new and existing products and processes in the plant. The Quality Engineer works with internal teams to maintain high quality standards by designing inspection procedures, developing control plans, completing root cause analysis, and responsible for PPAP process. Manage relationships with customers and suppliers and ensure their inquiries and requirements are responded to and addressed in a timely manner. Responsibility Develop and manage essential QMS documents, Process Control Plans, Work Instructions, Inspection Plan, Gauge Instructions, GR&R plan, etc. Participate in development and implementation of new and existing programs through APQP process Support product launches, Engineering changes and/or improvement changes and ensures Quality systems are updated to compliance Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages per customer requirements for new/existing products and process changes in a timely manner Complete dimensional reports, capability studies and measurement systems analysis. Lead problem solving activities for internal/external issues Address and resolve customer concerns in a timely manner in their preferred format. Perform internal audits to ensure conformance with IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements Monitor Customer Specific Requirements and customer portals and update documentation as required to ensure compliance. Conduct Product Process audits to ensure product is produced to customer specification and inspection activities are being conducted in accordance with control plan requirements Train employees in all aspects of Quality inspections, including the use of gauges, fixtures, and in-depth instructions for final inspections, boundary samples and procedures. Organize and lead meetings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for quality issues Understanding of customer issues, development, communication, and ensuring adherence to Quality alerts Initiate claims to suppliers for defective materials Maintain a clean and safe work environment Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar's Core Values and Leadership Behaviors. Perform other duties as assigned by manager Academic/Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in a technical area such as Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, Materials/Supply Chain, Engineering, etc. May consider eight (8) years of directly relevant Quality/Manufacturing experience in lieu of Bachelor Degree. At least five (5) years' experience in a Quality role performing responsibilities that are same as or similar to those listed in the Job Summary. Must have knowledge of
PPAP, 8D
methodology, supplier quality, quality tools, and customer web-based systems. Must have prior hands-on experience with testing equipment including but not limited to: depth gage, calipers, micrometer, tape measure, product gauges, and CMM preferred. Required Skills/Experience Working knowledge of
ISO/TS16949 IATF
standard Must be proficient in APQP, PPAP, CP, PFMEA, 8D, MSA, GR&R, GD&T, Quality tools, and Metrology. Problem Solving tools such as 8D, 5Why, Is - Is not, Cause and Effect, etc., Internal Auditor Certification strongly preferred (IATF 16949) Experience with MS Office, Outlook, CAD Software. Ability to learn new software applications. Working knowledge of CMM programming software (PCDMIS, Calypso) is a plus. Understanding of metallurgy is preferred. Proficient in interpretation of standards and customer requirements to ensure compliance. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprint drawings and GD&T symbols. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver presentations to management, customers and suppliers. Ability to prepare quality assurance reports outlining manufacturing issues, corrective actions, and preventative measures. Ability to manage people and projects. Must be familiar with automotive OEM supplier Portals Working knowledge of Six Sigma concepts Data collection and statistical analysis; Minitab preferred. Knowledge of processes used in manufacturing facility, customer facilities, and supplier facilities. Must be able to make good judgment calls concerning part quality as per requirements. Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Ability to use testing and measuring equipment including but not limited to: Hardness tester, Tensile Tester, depth gage, calipers, micrometer, and CMM. Working Conditions 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, In office, Production area as required.

All schedules and changes to working hours must be approved by the department manager. Schedule is subject to change based on discretion of department manager.
