  • Medical Device About the Role Apply your optical engineering expertise to revolutionize surgical cancer care through a radically novel laser‑based imaging platform.
In this role, you will take a senior, hands‑on position supporting our medical device verification activities , including writing and revising test protocols, executing verification tests, analyzing results, and ensuring alignment with design control expectations for FDA submission. You will work directly with the internal optical, electrical, and embedded subsystems of the Black Light Surgical device. This role blends structured verification work with deep optical and systems‑level engineering engagement . Key Responsibilities Medical Device Verification Write and revise verification protocols for optical, electrical, mechanical, and embedded subsystems. Execute verification tests in the lab and simulated OR environments. Document results in clear, defensible test reports suitable for regulatory review. Maintain verification documentation and traceability within the design control process. Collaborate with regulatory and quality teams to ensure verification evidence supports submission needs. Optical & Systems Engineering Build, align, and perform laser/optical experiments using oscilloscopes, power supplies, detectors, actuators, and other test equipment. Work directly with optical assemblies, signal‑processing chains, and embedded subsystems of the Black Light Surgical device. Validate signal and noise budgets across optical and electrical pathways. Support refinement of optical and system‑level hardware/software for the current instrument. Assist in development and testing of next‑generation optical imaging systems . System Debug & Embedded Interaction Use engineering tools to program microcontrollers and place systems into debug or diagnostic states. Troubleshoot system‑level issues across optical, electrical, and software interfaces. Experimental Execution & Data Analysis Collect and analyze experimental data using Python (pandas, numpy, visualization). Support data collection in OR or lab environments using time‑resolved fluorescence systems. Maintain accurate laboratory records and manage data generated in the lab and during clinical studies. Ensure proper setup and safety compliance for surgical equipment during OR procedures. Maintain laboratory organization and equipment readiness , including inventory and maintenance coordination. Required Education B.S. or higher in Optics, Optical Engineering, Optical Physics, Photonics, Engineering Physics, or related field. 5+ years of laboratory or engineering experience (more senior candidates strongly encouraged to apply).
