DESCRIPTION
Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. The Senior Design Verification Engineer will be a member of the Avionics team, focusing on the design verification of the various electrical functions of high-performance communication systems. They will focus on PCB Assembly design verification and will be taking designs from subsystem testing and initial build, through functional testing and system performance validation. They will write and execute design verification plans for power and signal integrity verification for standard and custom communication interfaces between Integrated circuits and circuit boards. They will ensure proper data collection, reviews, and demonstrate the system requirement verification. They will be part of a multidisciplinary avionics design team and work closely with PCBA design engineers, harness engineers, FPGA and embedded SW developers as well as system and integration engineers. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging opportunity to work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. Key job responsibilities We are looking for an engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. You will own and manage comprehensive test procedures and execute board level test plans. You are expected to collect test data, perform data analysis, and document results. In this role, you will conduct test readiness reviews and align with various stakeholders on data review activities Expect to work with a team of top-notch engineers and influence overall test strategy by helping define system test requirements You should be comfortable with a high degree of autonomy and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. You are expected to maintain requirements traceability during testing and solve integration and test problems in real time. If this sounds like the role for you, come make history with us! A day in the life You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. In this role, you will be a member of the Hardware Test, Verification, and Validation Team with responsibilities for developing hardware tests and test automation for validation of various avionics systems. This is a cross-functional role requiring constant interaction with multiple HW/SW design teams and end-users.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field Solid understanding of EE and test fundamentals 5+ years of experience in board level design verification for aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics products; OR 5+ years of experience building test fixtures and complex test systems including integrating test software 5+ years of experience developing requirements, plans, and procedures for product design verification. 5+ years of experience in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) 5+ years of experience with design or test of switching power supplies, electric motors, IMUs, sensors, and high-speed electrical signal characterization 5+ years of experience in design verification of high-speed interfaces, signal integrity and protocol compliance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills Ability to coordinate between engineering, test lab, and technicians and schedule testing resources•Experience in test plans and protocols related to established Space Hardware test processes (GEVS / SMC-S-016) Experience with power supplies, IMUs, FPGAs, sensors, RF, and high-speed electrical signal characterization Experience with design or test of circuit boards with complex microcontrollers, system-on-chip (SOCs), or FPGAs Experience with development of automated test systems Experience with incoming calibration checks and developing calibration procedures Experience in reviewing requirements to support various test phases Experience as the technical lead, leading small groups of other test engineers across multiple designs Excellent communication, leadership skills and sense of ownership and drive Knowledge of hardware and software tools for test automation (e.g. NI, dSPACE, Python, C/C++, Labview, etc.) Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
