This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau. Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual. Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla biweekly salary: $4,622.40 Fairbanks biweekly salary: $4,760.80 Juneau biweekly salary: $4,853.60 What you will be doing: The incumbent in this position is the technical, regulatory engineering expert for the Mining Section in the Wastewater Discharge Authorization Program and is tasked with development and implementation of regulatory and technical engineering policies, procedures and guidance related to wastewater permitting of the hard and soft rock mining sectors in Alaska. This position is the most responsible, technical, statewide engineering expert in wastewater discharge systems of the mining industry sector in Alaska and is responsible for issuing timely, legally, and technically defensible wastewater discharge permits for mining facilities and other industries. The incumbent has statewide authority as the technical lead for the Division of Water programs with wastewater permitting of complex and controversial industrial projects related to mining. The incumbent serves in the most responsible statewide review and consulting role as a technical engineering expert involved with policy and standard setting as related to the development and modification of engineering techniques, approaches, standards and procedures. This position is the primary point of contact with the Department, other state and federal agencies, and private/public sector contacts, including permittees, on mining activities requiring Division review and action. As the Mining Section Supervisor, the position has substantial responsibility for the exercise of independent judgment in employing, disciplining, discharging, and adjudicating grievances; setting task priorities; assigning and reviewing work; and instructing and training subordinates. This position works with dedicated staff to develop, issue and manage wastewater discharge permits statewide. Must possess and maintain an Alaska professional engineering (PE) license. Alaska Drivers License is required Minimum Qualifications Registration as a professional engineer (PE) or professional architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect 1 or higher), of which one year was as a Technical Engineer 1 / Architect 1 or Engineer/Architect 2 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance withAS 08.48.191
