Take charge of our water management initiatives, plan, design, and implement critical projects to safeguard our water supply and infrastructure. Craft and implement visionary goals and policies for water engineering programs from planning to project execution. Utilize your expertise to develop innovative solutions for water infrastructure projects and environmental program planning. Forge strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, driving collaboration and consensus building. Champion compliance with regulations and standards, ensuring our water engineering programs are at the forefront of best practices. Mentor and guide your team, sharing your knowledge and skills to foster professional growth.What You Bring:

Under general direction manages a major section or function of the Engineering Department; performs difficult and complex professional civil engineering work to include reviewing a variety of plans, designs and other documents for conformance to standards and specifications; supervises professional and technical engineering staff as assigned; coordinates the work of the function/section assigned with other City departments, divisions and outside agencies and performs related work as required. Future general salary increase: 3% Increase effective July 2026 Employment GuidelinesEducation/Training/Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the necessary qualifications is as follows: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience in water engineering involving the design, construction, inspection and surveying of public works projects.Special Requirements:
Valid Class C California Driver's License and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position. Employees in this classification will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicle Government Employee Pull Notice. Licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. The City of Fullerton's Conflict of Interest Code requires that the Senior Civil Engineer file financial disclosure statements in accordance with State and local laws. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs. California Government Code §3100- 3109 requires that all public employees are to be declared disaster service workers and shall take and subscribe to the related oath or affirmation as required.
