Irvine, CA A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to join its Orange County team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced project leaders on a diverse range of water and wastewater projects, while gaining early exposure to project coordination, client interaction, and technical decision-making. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who wants to build on a strong technical foundation while taking meaningful steps toward broader project responsibility. Unlike larger organizations, this role provides direct involvement in decision-making and exposure to senior leadership, allowing for faster professional development and progression. The position combines hands-on technical work with increasing responsibility in project delivery, offering a well-rounded platform for long-term growth. Key Responsibilities Support the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure, including: Treatment systems Collection and conveyance systems Pump stations and storage facilities Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, and technical reports Assist in coordinating project tasks, schedules, and deliverables Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and support client interaction Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in the near term Approximately 6-10 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering Experience in the design of treatment and/or conveyance systems Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills What Sets This Role Apart Work in a small, agile team where your contributions are visible and valued Faster progression than larger consultancies, with early exposure to project coordination and decision-making Direct collaboration with senior engineers and leadership on every project Exposure to a diverse mix of municipal and private-sector water projects Opportunity to build both technical depth and project delivery experience in parallel Compensation $95,000•$120,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus bonus and comprehensive benefits.
