Job Description

Water Resources Engineer Location:
Pasadena, Orange, or San Diego, CA | Hybrid A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join its Southern California team. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex stormwater and watershed challenges, contributing to projects that shape how water is managed across the region. The Opportunity You will join a specialized, technically focused team working on challenging hydrology and hydraulics problems across a diverse portfolio of projects. The firm offers a more agile and hands-on environment than larger consultancies, providing engineers with greater ownership, direct access to leadership, and meaningful involvement in project delivery. This role is ideal for someone who wants to deepen their technical expertise while gaining broader exposure to real-world water resource challenges. Key Responsibilities Support and lead the delivery of water resourcesandstormwater projects, including: Stormwater management and drainage design Watershed analysis and planning Flood control and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling Water quality and stormwater compliance-related studies Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar Prepare technical reports, studies, and engineering documentation Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to integrated project solutions Participate in client interactions and support project development efforts Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field California PE license Approximately 4-8 years of experience in water resources engineering Strong background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater systems Experience with industry-standard modeling tools Solid technical writing and communication skills What Sets This Role Apart Opportunity to work on regionally significant watershed and stormwater projects A technically driven environment with a strong focus on hydrology and hydraulic analysis More ownership and visibility than typically found in larger consulting firms Direct collaboration with senior engineers and leadership on project work Exposure to a variety of project types, offering broader experience and faster development Compensation $100,000•$140,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus and benefits.
