Job Description
Approximately 12 or more years of progressive experience in water and wastewater engineeringBachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related disciplineDemonstrated technical depth in water, wastewater, and reuse systems, including both physical and chemical treatment methodsProven experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure from early planning through final design and construction supportStrong record of producing engineering calculations, design criteria, technical memoranda, and regulatory or client facing deliverablesExperience advancing drawing packages through multiple design milestones, including coordination and markup of drafting workHands on involvement with construction phase services for water, wastewater, or reclaimed water facilitiesAbility to complete process and hydraulic analyses for treatment facilities, develop capital cost estimates, and prepare detailed process diagrams, layouts, and P&IDsWorking knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automation systems commonly used in utility treatment facilitiesComfortable reviewing and interpreting plans, specifications, technical reports, and related engineering documentationExposure to treatment plant operations, pilot testing, performance monitoring, data analysis, and reportingStrong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to contribute across multiple concurrent projectsSelf directed, organized, and capable of prioritizing workload while exercising sound engineering judgmentClear communicator with a practical, solutions oriented approach to problem solvingBonus ExperiencePrior experience in a consulting or professional services environmentAbility to coordinate effectively with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering disciplinesExperience with advanced or specialized treatment technologies such as membranes, UV, or similar systemsFamiliarity with permitting requirements and regulatory frameworks governing water, wastewater, and reuse projects in California and throughout the USExperience supporting system startup, commissioning, and long term operations planningBackground in hydraulic modeling of both gravity and pressurized pipeline systemsExperience designing pump stations or related conveyance infrastructureInvolvement in developing planning level and detailed cost estimates for utility infrastructureWorking knowledge of common industry design and modeling platforms such as Civil 3D, SewerCAD, PCSWMM, or similar toolsFamiliarity with treatment process modeling software used to evaluate biological or physical treatment performanceProfessional Engineer license strongly preferredAdditional credentials related to sustainability, resiliency, or infrastructure performance viewed favorablyDuties Lead development of high quality engineering solutions across planning, evaluation, design, permitting, construction support, and operational planningPrepare, review, and oversee engineering calculations, design criteria, and technical documentationCollaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary solutionsApply quality assurance and quality control practices consistently throughout all project stagesAssign, oversee, and guide the work of design staff to meet technical and schedule objectivesSupport team growth through mentoring, coaching, and performance feedbackIntroduce practical improvements to design approaches, workflows, and technical standardsEnsure all work complies with applicable local, state, and federal requirementsServe as a key technical liaison between clients and project teams, communicating clearly and professionallyOperate independently with limited supervision while maintaining accountability for technical decisionsUphold professional standards of care through thoughtful, defensible engineering judgment
