Project Engineer•Stormwater & Water Resources Louisville, Indiana | Full-Time | Hybrid Flexibility Available Are you passionate about stormwater engineering and designing infrastructure that protects communities from flooding, improves water quality, and supports long-term resilience? My client, a nationally recognized engineering consultancy and one of Indiana's most respected employers, is seeking a Project Engineer to join their growing Stormwater & Water Resources team. This opportunity is ideal for an EIT or early-career PE who wants to work on meaningful municipal projects while developing expertise in stormwater design, drainage analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and watershed management. The Opportunity As a Project Engineer, you'll support the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater infrastructure projects for municipalities and public agencies throughout Indiana and the surrounding region. Working alongside experienced project managers and water resources specialists, you'll play a key role in helping clients address flooding challenges, drainage improvements, watershed planning, and regulatory compliance. This position offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from watershed studies and preliminary engineering reports through final design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. Key Responsibilities Stormwater Engineering & Design Assist with the design of municipal stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for urban and rural watersheds. Develop storm sewer systems, detention facilities, open channel improvements, and flood mitigation solutions. Utilize industry-standard modeling software to evaluate stormwater runoff and drainage systems. Support watershed planning and stormwater master planning efforts. Project Development Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, and drainage analyses. Assist with preliminary engineering reports for funding agencies and municipal clients. Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bidding documents. Coordinate permitting activities and regulatory approvals. Construction & Client Support Support construction administration and inspection activities. Participate in meetings with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders. Assist project managers with project schedules, budgets, and client communication. Team Collaboration Work closely with experienced water resources engineers and project managers. Develop technical expertise through mentorship and hands-on project experience. Contribute to innovative and sustainable stormwater solutions that improve communities. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. Strong interest in stormwater, drainage, and water resources projects. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment. Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of civil engineering experience. Experience with stormwater management and drainage design. Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, ICPR, Civil 3D, or similar modeling software. Experience supporting municipal infrastructure projects. Knowledge of floodplain permitting and stormwater regulations. Why Join This Firm?
