  • Municipal Water/Wastewater Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Civil Professional Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of municipal water infrastructure projects.
The role focuses on water system improvements including drinking water, wastewater, and water resources and supports capital improvement programs from feasibility through construction. The ideal candidate has hands on municipal water experience, strong technical design skills, and the ability to perform site visits and evaluate field conditions. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering design and technical development for municipal water and infrastructure projects (drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and water resources). Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for capital improvement projects; complete quantity takeoffs and constructability reviews. Conduct feasibility studies, hydraulic analyses, and water quality assessments to support project decisions and regulatory compliance. Develop bid specifications, assist with procurement, and respond to contractor RFIs during bidding and construction phases. Perform site visits and field assessments to observe conditions, support construction oversight, and verify asbuilt information. Coordinate with municipal clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives. Provide technical review and ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations (including drinking water and wastewater standards). Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and supporting documentation; present findings to stakeholders and governing bodies. Support capital improvement planning, budgeting, and prioritization activities for municipal water systems. Mentor junior engineers and technicians, and contribute to business development and proposal preparation as needed. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in municipal water projects, water resources, or related civil infrastructure work. Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil engineering. Demonstrated experience with drinking water and/or wastewater system design, water quality considerations, and water testing protocols. Proven ability to prepare bid specifications, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, feasibility studies, and construction documents for capital improvement projects. Experience conducting site visits and evaluating field conditions; comfortable with construction phase support and contractor coordination. Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D, hydraulic modeling tools, and standard office tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills, project management aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
