As a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering large-scale water and wastewater network solutions, driving technical excellence and innovation across projects. As a Principal Engineer - Conveyance, you will act as a subject matter expert and technical lead for the planning, modelling, and design of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. You will guide teams on complex assignments while remaining actively involved in critical technical deliverables. You will collaborate within a multicultural, high‑performing engineering environment and contribute to achieving project targets related to quality, schedules, technical rigor, and client satisfaction.
Key duties include:
Provide technical leadership in the design and planning of water supply and wastewater conveyance networks. Lead and review development of hydraulic models (steady state and extended period simulations) for large-scale systems. Oversee master planning studies, including: Demand forecasting and load assessment Land-use analysis System capacity assessment and gap analysis Drive network optioneering and optimisation, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
Lead preparation and review of:
Capital investment plans and phasing strategies Implementation roadmaps for network expansion/upgrades Review and guide engineering design deliverables, including: Pipeline sizing and network layouts Hydraulic calculations and system controls Pumping systems and rising mains Provide expertise in pumping systems, including system curves, pump selection, operational strategies, and integration with networks. Ensure effective integration with treatment plants, reservoirs, and pump stations. Perform and lead technical QA/QC reviews of models, calculations, reports, and drawings. Support Design for Design‑Build (D for DB) and EPC projects, including constructability inputs and contractor coordination. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, civil, electrical, BIM) to ensure aligned delivery. Prepare and review technical reports, design basis documents, and client presentations. Act as a key technical interface with clients and stakeholders, supporting reviews, approvals, and technical discussions. Support bid/proposal development, including methodology, technical inputs, and effort estimation. Identify and manage technical risks, providing mitigation strategies. Mentor engineers and support development of technical capability within the team. Promote adoption of digital tools, modelling best practices, and data-driven workflows. Work Experience 15+ years of experience in water and wastewater conveyance planning and design. Strong expertise in hydraulic modelling, master planning, and detailed design of water distribution and sewer networks. Proven ability to lead complex modelling studies and infrastructure planning projects.
Hands-on experience with:
Water distribution networks Wastewater collection systems (gravity + rising mains) Pumping and transmission systems Experience in optioneering, system optimisation, and lifecycle cost analysis. Experience in multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and coordination. Exposure to Design‑Build / EPC delivery models is an advantage. Experience in technical reviews, QA/QC, and mentoring engineers. Strong familiarity with international design standards and best practices. Experience in technical proposal preparation and client engagement. Awareness of BIM-enabled design environments is desirable
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline)
Preferred Attributes:
Master's degree in Water Resources / Environmental Engineering (or relevant field) Chartered Engineer (CEng) / Professional Engineer (PE) preferred Experience in international projects and global delivery frameworks Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, client‑integrated environments.
Hybrid Work Expectation:
