Principal Engineer (PE) - Water & Wastewater

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Principal Engineer (PE) in the Capital Improvement Project division, focused on the water and wastewater field . The position is scheduled to work M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler. Why work for Chandler?

• Flexible schedule/remote work options (when available) Who we are The Capital Improvements Division of the Public Works & Utilities Department is one of six American Public Works Association (APWA) Accredited agencies in the State and one of a few ADOT Certified Agencies for the administration of design and construction for State and Federally grant-funded transportation projects.

This division is responsible for the management and coordination of the orderly design and construction of the City's capital infrastructure in the Capital Improvement Program, including procurement of professional services, design, construction and construction management for transportation, utilities, public buildings, community services and other general government improvements. Who we are looking for Our new team member will be passionate about customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to provide a full range of project management services for capital improvement projects , and to apply a full range of professional engineering principles and practices in water resources, planning, development, programming, design, and implementation. Our new team member will be able to negotiate and administer multiple contracts, provide technical reviews of designs and estimates, and coordinate with other agencies and utility companies. Additionally, this person will supervise the daily operations of assigned staff. This classification is distinguished from other engineering work by the requirement for an Arizona Licensed Professional Engineer designation. • A bachelor's degree in an Engineering field; and
• 8 years of experience as a registered engineer in water and wastewater utility design, construction, unit process control and optimization including at least 2 years of previous supervisory experience; and
• An Arizona Professional Engineer Licensure; and
• A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications Multifaceted experience with a specific focus in water and wastewater project management. This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available. The City of Chandler will conduct a reference check and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
