Engineering Associate

Engineering Associate Employee will conduct engineering studies, prepare designs related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of public infrastructure, and perform development reviews for code conformance. The employee will have the responsibility of: Under the guidance of a Registered Professional Engineer, designing Public Works infrastructure projects Reviewing construction plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards, reviews adequacy of various permit applications Using a variety of software applications, performs water, wastewater, drainage, and traffic modeling to determine the impact of development on these systems Conducting inspections and materials research and testing Evaluating deliverables from consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and vendors, including reviewing plans and specifications Providing oversight of Public Works infrastructure construction projects Responding to public or other inquiries relative to engineering policies and procedures Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of various material and construction cost databases The work environment will require the employee to: Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration As an employee with the city of Killeen some benefits are: Health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX Dental and Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement through TMRS (Optional 4579(b) Accounts) Paid Vacation and Sick Leave 13 paid holidays

Education and Experience:

Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field; and One (1) year of experience in engineering design and construction, or related fields is preferred

Special Requirements:

Must have a valid Texas driver s license within ninety (90) days of hire Must have a valid driver s license by date-of-hire Physically be capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions. Must possess an Engineer-In-Training certification and number or acquire same within one (1) year of hire date
