Summary The Environmental Engineer - Water Program is responsible for managing and improving water and wastewater systems that support semiconductor manufacturing operations at Micron's Manassas facility. This role ensures regulatory compliance, supports sustainable water use, and partners closely with Facilities, Engineering, Operations, and Environmental Health & Safety teams to protect the environment while enabling reliable manufacturing. The engineer applies technical expertise, data analysis, and regulatory knowledge to optimize water systems performance and support long‑term site objectives. Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental compliance and performance for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems in support of fab operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements related to water programs.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze environmental data, and identify opportunities to improve water efficiency and sustainability.
  • Support operation and optimization of water treatment, recycling, and discharge systems in partnership with Facilities and Operations teams.
  • Prepare regulatory reports, permit applications, and internal documentation; support audits and inspections as required.
  • Investigate environmental incidents or deviations, perform root‑cause analysis, and lead corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in water‑related capital projects, upgrades, and system modifications to support manufacturing growth and reliability.
  • Promote environmental stewardship and safe work practices by influencing best‑known methods and compliance awareness. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in evaluating and implementing environmental regulations and permitting related to water, wastewater, or stormwater systems.
  • Experience in data-driven decision making, along with solid organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally internally and externally. Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting industrial or semiconductor manufacturing water and wastewater systems.
  • Experience with water treatment technologies, recycling systems, or sustainability programs to include incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and supporting environmental audits or inspections (ISO 14001).
