Job Description:
England Public Schools is actively seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated High School Counselor for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications of Employment:
  • Master's degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Holds or is able to secure Arkansas teaching license, specifically with School Counselor endorsement.
  • Knowledge of Arkansas graduation requirements, student services regulations, and counseling best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze student data and implement intervention strategies.
  • Proficiency with student information systems and educational technology.
  • A passion and love for learning and teaching students.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Resilience and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to establish rapport and build professional relationships with students.
  • A high degree of professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Academic Counseling ○ Assist students in developing and monitoring an individualized academic plan aligned with graduation requirements and postsecondary goals.
○ Guide students in course selection, credit recovery, graduation tracking, and academic interventions. ○ Monitor student progress toward graduation and communicate concerns to students, parents/guardians, and administrators. ○ Coordinate testing programs and interpret assessment data as needed.
  • College and Career Readiness ○ Provide college, career, military, and workforce readiness counseling and planning.
○ Assist students with college applications, scholarships, financial aid, and career exploration opportunities. ○ Coordinate college visits, career fairs, workforce partnerships, and transition activities. ○ Support implementation of Arkansas Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways and graduation requirements.
  • Social and Emotional Support ○ Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention for students experiencing academic, behavioral, emotional, or social concerns.
○ Make referrals to outside agencies and mental health providers when appropriate. ○ Promote positive school climate and student wellness through prevention and intervention programs. ○ Participate in threat assessment, safety planning, and student support teams as assigned.
  • Collaboration and Leadership ○ Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community organizations to support student achievement and well-being.
○ Participate in Response to Intervention (RTI), Section 504, Individualized Education Program (IEP), and other student support meetings as required. ○ Maintain accurate student records and counseling documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations. ○ Assist with student registration, scheduling, orientation, and transition activities. (May require occasional evening activities related to parent meetings, college/career events, or school programs.) ○ Support district initiatives related to attendance, dropout prevention, and student engagement.
  • Compliance and Professional Responsibilities ○ Adhere to ethical standards established by the American School Counselor Association and Arkansas Department of Education requirements.
○ Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district policies. ○ Participate in professional development and maintain required licensure. ○ Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
