Job Summary:

Overview:

The position's primary function is to keep the facility clean in order to eliminate safety and fire hazards. The individual in this position will work in the Sawmill and will be asked to perform the following tasks; general facility clean up including picking up slabs, sticks, sawdust, wood chunks, bark, debris, and chips off lower mill floors; assist with bandsaw changes, chipper knives, chainsaw maintenance and assist with dust mitigation.

Shift:

Thursday - Sunday 4:30 pm - 3:00 am

Qualifications:

Completion of high-school or equivalent preferred but not required Sawmill experience preferred but not required Must be able to safely work at a moderate to fast pace Lifting is 20-30 pounds on a continuous basis using brooms, shovels, backpack blowers, air hoses, etc. Must be willing to learn new skills Be a team player and self-starter

Responsibilities:

Pick up slabs, sticks, sawdust, wood chunks, bark, debris, and chips off lower mill floors Assist with dust mitigation Maintain a safe environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures Apply good housekeeping standards to your work area or any area you observe Monitor chipper/waste system. Learn how to keep them running. Learn what to check when they have stopped. Change chipper knives. Learn to identify potential problems with the chipper.
