Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Manager 1161 Park Road, Blandon, PA 19510
Full-time Full-time Position Scope:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for optimizing and managing all EHS programs and processes within the plant. This position is onsite and will work closely with plant personnel to maximize overall efficiency and effectiveness of the EHS efforts. Additionally, this manager is responsible for all external communications with regulators, acts as the primary interface between the enforcement agencies and the Plant Operations. The Manager will interact with community interest groups, contractors, and consultants on a routine basis. This individual must demonstrate the ability to lead and influence operations staff not under direct supervision. The position reports directly to the Director of EHS, has 1 direct report, and has the responsibility to lead the implementation and evaluation of critical EHS processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to compliance as well as risk reduction at 4 locations.Education Requirements:
BS in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited university is required. Professional certifications preferred. Fluency in Spanish preferredEssential Job Functions:
Complete the tracking and analysis of all EHS data in support of compliance and required reporting. Execute and/or oversee routine inspections, audits, and drills within the plant. Manage the maintenance of all documentation required to demonstrate compliance with required federal, state, and local recordkeeping requirements, as well as all required external submission reports. Conduct and ensure the delivery and tracking of all awareness and compliance training for employees within the facility. Assist in the completion of investigations related to environmental and safety incidents, and the completion of corrective actions. Reinforce programs through engagement at all levels of the organizational workforce. Monitor and maintain compliance with the requirements of federal, state, and local laws and applicable consensus standards. Provide relevant content and subject matter expertise to support EHS initiatives within the facility. Define plant EHS goals to align with corporate business objectives. Work in a team environment where responsibilities for injury/illness prevention, compliance assurance, auditing, incident investigation, and employee training are integrated into the routine functions of the operations. Implement, manage, and monitor all applicable EHS programs and processes across the facility. Provide regular status reports to the Director of EHS and the Plant Manager. Lead employee engagement efforts including oversight of committees and assessment processes. Occasionally travel to other company business units as a member of an assessment team or to serve as a subject matter expert for resolution of a particular issue. Work closely with the Human Resources Department, and, where appropriate, the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), to review and monitor workers' compensation claims costs and develop plans to minimize active claims.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance programs in industrial operations. Must have strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA). Proactive, highly organized and committed to continuous improvement. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters. Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders and audiences. Workers' Compensation Claims and Return-To-Work Program Management Experience. Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Experience. Must have established interpersonal skills with a proven ability to reach consensus. Experience with Air Permitting (Title V), NPDES, Wastewater Discharge, Water Appropriation, Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal, SPCC, FRP, and Spill Response. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance short- and long-term issues. Knowledge and experience with ISO 45001 and 14001 management system implementation and certification. Ability to communicate authoritatively on environmental and safety matters for training, coaching and other advice. An ability to develop and adapt strategies with respect to environmental and safety performance. Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders and audiences, and a strong ability to represent business interests to 3rd parties. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel, Word).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work in an Industrial Manufacturing setting. Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders as needed during shift. Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet). Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties. Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds. Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks Correctable vision allowing to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view operations. Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat. Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while traversing the plant.Job Type:
