The practice includes a veterinary hospital, imaging center, surgery center, and rehab center in Oldwick, NJ, an imaging center and office in Wellington, FL, and ambulatory services offered in Oldwick, NJ, Ocala and Wellington, FL, Middleburg, VA and in other seasonal locations. The practice has recently broken ground to build a new, state of the art, 50,000+ square foot facility in Oldwick. The facility will allow for the addition of the Qalibra CT machine and an upgrade to a newer nuclear scintigraphy machine; our Hallmarq MRI will move into the new facility. For those raising a family, a number of schools in the area offer award winning school systems. What will you be doing? B.W. Furlong & Associates is looking to fill an entry-level hospital assistant role within our hospital, with a growth opportunity to assist on the surgical team. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to begin a career in equine veterinary medicine but first needs to develop or expand technical skills. Hospital Assistants work alongside our world class technicians and doctors in a supporting role. The role will provide exposure to all facets of the hospital: emergency care, general practice, internal medicine, reproduction, imaging, rehabilitation, and laboratory services. The candidate will support the surgical team by: preparing surgical suites pre/post procedure, becoming familiar with surgical instruments and sterilization protocols, and understanding the workflow of a surgery. Upon mastery of these and other skills, the incumbent may be considered for promotion to a Hospital or Surgery Technician role. The ideal candidate has exceptional horsemanship skills developed by working, riding, training, and caring for a variety of horses. Physical stamina, comfort working around large animals, and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds are essential. They will enjoy working with a team, learning something new every day, and will have a passion for providing world class care for our patients and clients. In the surgery role, they will thrive working in a fast paced environment where they can use their training to work independently while thinking critically about their actions. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1 hour lunch break. Additional hours, including on-call shifts or extra shifts, may be available depending on the needs of the hospital. This is a non-exempt, full-time position. Overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate is paid for any hours over 40 worked in a work week. Additionally, hours worked on a company holiday are paid at twice the hourly rate, regardless of total hours worked. Upon promotion to a Technician role, the employee will be required to participate in the on-call rotation with anesthesia obligations. On-call shifts provide a stipend above and beyond the hourly or overtime rate.
