POSITION
EQUIPMENTMECHANIC II PAY RANGE
: $36.92/hrGRADE:
HLT-17 Position Description Under the general supervision of the Mechanic Foreperson, Assistant Highway Superintendent and Highway Superintendent, performs skilled work in the repair and maintenance of specialized and complex automotive, heavy truck and construction equipment; and performs related work as required. Essential Job Functions Performs maintenance and repairs on all types of cars, light trucks, vans, pickup trucks, heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, fire apparatus, lawn mowers, small power equipment. Performs any and all repairs and diagnosis on all vehicles and equipment. Performs computer controlled diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles and equipment. Performs repairs and maintenance on specialized equipment such as bulldozers, wheel loaders, sweepers, graders, emergency generators, fire apparatus including pumps and special attachments. May exercise supervision over lower level mechanics and provide technical advice and assistance. Orders parts and supplies as needed. Keeps records and prepares reports. Additional Job Functions Performs other tasks or duties as required or directed . Performs welding and fabricating. Completes electronic work orders as required. Plows snow as needed. Assists in leaf collection as needed. Performs and assists with Equipment Operator, or any other lower level classification within the department as needed. Required to attend continuing educational classes and /or certifications provided by the Town as directed during regularly scheduled working hours. Required Minimum Qualifications Completion of High School or technical school. Completion of post graduate technical school (New hires only). Three years' experience in mechanical repair work. Must have a tool box with all basic tools required in the trade subject to the satisfaction of the Town.License or Certificate:
A valid class "B" Connecticut Commercial Driver's License.Note:
