ER Tech

The Emergency Room Technician I assist providers in the Emergency Department with patient care. Collects samples for lab analysis, gathers and documents patient information, monitors EKG's and heart rhythms, treats wounds and assists doctors and nurses during procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

Assists patients in dressing or undressing as well as lifting and positioning patients for procedures. Applies orthopedic dressing and splints as instructed or requested. Assists with transporting patients as needed. Completes mandatory training requirements. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned. Work with Doctors and nurses and provide technical support of patient care. Clean and stock rooms and carts with appropriate medical supplies and equipment. Change linen as necessary. Help with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures. Obtain and document patient's vital signs, as well as assist with placement of oxygen saturation, blood pressure and cardiac monitoring. Measuring and fitting canes and crutches and teaching patients how to use them. Making sure the correct documentation is accurate and complete. Follows hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. Communicate with patients, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current Basic Emergency Medical Technician certification from an approved institution or training program, or current Certified Nurse Aide certification or in an accredited training program for either. Familiar with medical terminology and able to spell medical terms correctly BLS Required Full time, Night Shift, 7:00PM-7:00AM, 36 hours per week CVH is EOE
