Description Position Overview The Boys & Girls Club of Vernon is seeking an energetic and tech-savvy Esports Instructor to lead our expanding competitive and recreational gaming program at the Lions Den Teen Center. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, gaming, and teamworkand can use esports as a platform to teach leadership, sportsmanship, and digital literacy. Key Responsibilities Develop, plan, and implement engaging esports programming for teens, including practices, tournaments, and skill-building sessions. Teach fundamentals of gaming strategy, teamwork, communication, and responsible online conduct. Maintain a positive, inclusive environment where all members feel welcome and encouraged. Promote college and career pathways related to gaming, broadcasting, coding, and technology. Ensure proper use and care of gaming equipment and facilities. Collaborate with Club staff to integrate STEM learning and character development into the esports program. Supervise youth to ensure safety, participation, and adherence to Club rules and values. Qualifications Minimum age 18 with high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred. Experience in gaming, coaching, or youth instruction. Strong communication and mentoring skills. Familiarity with popular esports titles (e.g., Rocket League, Fortnite, Super Smash Bros, NBA2K, etc.). Ability to model sportsmanship, teamwork, and digital citizenship. Must pass background check and complete Boys & Girls Club required training. Schedule & Compensation Approximately 10-15 hours per week, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
