The Opportunity We're hiring an experienced Estimator to join our pre-construction team. In this role, you'll own the full bid process for commercial landscape projects ranging from $100K to $5M from takeoffs and material pricing to final proposal delivery. You'll work closely with our project management and operations teams to develop accurate, competitive bids that win work and protect margins. This is a high-impact role with real ownership, competitive pay, and room to grow.
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:
$70,000
  • $90,000 (depending on experience) Health benefits, PTO, holidays, and additional perks discussed during the interview process Key Result Areas Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, blueprints, and specifications for commercial landscape and hardscape projects Develop accurate and competitive project estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs Manage the full bid process from RFP receipt through proposal submission and follow-up Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers Coordinate with project managers and operations to align estimates with field execution realities Maintain and update the company's unit cost database and bid templates Track bid outcomes (won/lost) and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating accuracy Attend pre-bid walkthroughs, site visits, and project kickoff meetings as needed Assist in identifying and qualifying new bid opportunities aligned with company growth targets Participate in regularly scheduled estimating and operations review meetings Support business development activities including relationship building with GCs and owners Characteristics of Ideal Candidates Education Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Landscape Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred Experience 3-7 years of estimating experience in commercial landscape, hardscape, site work, or a related construction trade Candidates with strong field experience in landscape or site-work construction who have transitioned into estimating will also be considered Skills, Knowledge, & Aptitudes Strong understanding of commercial landscape and hardscape construction; i.
e., concrete pavers, rock walls, site concrete, irrigation, and softscapes Proficiency in performing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications Experience with estimating software (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Buildertrend, or similar) Ability to read and interpret civil, landscape, and architectural plans/blueprints Strong mathematical aptitude and proficiency in unit cost analysis and job costing Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional presence with clients and general contractors Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously Fluency in English required, fluence in Spanish desirable Current Utah Driver's License required Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management tools Working Conditions An SLG Estimator is primarily an office-based role with regular site visits required for pre-bid walkthroughs and project kickoff meetings. Physical requirements include the ability to navigate active construction sites, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
