Job Description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a dependable, experienced, and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our veterinarians and technicians to deliver high-quality patient care and support daily clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Veterinarians:
Support veterinarians during examinations, and other medical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared and readily available.
Patient Care:
Provide compassionate care to animals, including handling, restraining, feeding, and cleaning. Monitor the health and behavior of patients and report any changes to the veterinarian.
Customer Service and Reception:
Answering phones, scheduling and confirming appointments, Triaging emergencies, filling prescriptions.
Client Interaction:
Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing information on their pet's condition, treatment plans, and follow-up care. Educate clients on preventative health care and general animal care.
Cleanliness and Sanitation:
Ensure examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment are clean, disinfected, and well-maintained.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required, minimum of one year.
Skills:
Compassionate and patient with animals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a team.
Computer skills:
Windows, Practice Management Software, data entry Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks such as cleaning and maintaining the clinic environment. Reliable attendance including weekends required.
Work Environment:
Fast paced small animal Veterinary Hospital, privately owned Interaction with a variety of animals, including those that may be sick or injured.
Pay:
Hourly rate will be based on experience.
