Job Description

Mediterranean Fire is seeking experienced and highly committed performers to join a vocal and physical theatre laboratory centered on ensemble creation, rigorous training, and the development of a long-term troupe. This is not a conventional production. It is a disciplined artistic process requiring focus, presence, and sustained commitment.
Project:
Right to Live A performance work addressing: forced migration environmental crisis the erosion of the "right to live" in conditions of war and displacement The work integrates: physical theatre advanced vocal practice poetic text and testimony Responsibilities Selected performers will: Commit to a structured rehearsal process Engage in intensive vocal and physical training Contribute to devised material through improvisation and text Perform in 3 public presentations with engaged audiences Work in collaboration with professional visual artists and musicians Training Focus Full-range vocal development (low to high register) Resonance work across the body Integration of breath, voice, and movement Ensemble responsiveness and spatial awareness The work draws from lineages connected to Marcel Marceau and Jerzy Grotowski, while moving toward the development of a distinct contemporary method. Compensation $180/month stipend Paid in 4 installments This is a modest stipend supporting participation in an artistic laboratory , not a salaried role. Requirements Prior experience in theatre, performance, dance, or vocal work Strong discipline and reliability Ability to sustain physical and vocal intensity Willingness to engage deeply with ensemble processes Must absolutely have reliable transportation Ideal Candidate Serious about long-term artistic development Interested in process over product Comfortable working within demanding and exploratory frameworks Seeking to be part of forming a dedicated troupe/company About the Director Led by Biba Sheikh, theatre director and founder of Mediterranean Fire, with over three decades of interdisciplinary performance work across Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
