Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools to verify that parts meet specification, using metric units. Operate extrusion machines safely and efficiently, following established procedures and safety guidelines. Operate a forklift on occasion to move materials or finished product, maintaining comfort and safety with forklift use. Lift up to 50 pounds as needed, using team lifts and small cranes at each machine for heavier dies and rollers. Maintain a clean and organized work area around the extrusion machines to support safe and efficient operations. Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement. Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers regarding production status, quality concerns, and equipment needs. Support training and knowledge sharing with coworkers as needed, contributing to long-term team stability and growth. Essential Skills 2-5 years of experience operating extrusion machines or closely related plastic processing equipment. Hands-on experience setting up machinery, including installing dies and rollers and inputting speeds and feeds. Experience with plastic extrusion processes or equivalent experience in injection molding or blow molding, considered on a case-by-case basis. Familiarity with polypropylene and/or polyethylene plastic processing. Ability to perform first and last article inspections and accurately document results in Excel. Comfort operating a forklift on an occasional basis in a production environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform team lifts for heavier items. Capability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to potential long-term shift changes, including nights. Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate and enter data in Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating HPM or Davis-Standard extrusion machines. Prior leadership, supervision, or management experience in a manufacturing or production setting, supporting future advancement opportunities. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial machinery and tools. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate production and quality records. Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with production teams. Why Work Here? The organization offers strong job security and clear opportunities for growth, with significant upward mobility as team members retire over the coming years. You benefit from a four-day workweek structure, providing extended time off while still maintaining full-time hours. A retirement plan with company match begins on day one, and comprehensive benefits start on the first of the month. Generous paid time off—120 hours accrued from the start—supports work-life balance. The culture emphasizes open communication from site leadership and a sense of camaraderie among team members, creating a supportive and collaborative work environment. Work Environment The facility is a clean, industrial manufacturing environment focused on plastic extrusion, primarily working with polypropylene and polyethylene. Temperatures can reach up to approximately 120 degrees in the summer, so you should be comfortable working in a warm production setting. Each extrusion machine is equipped with small cranes to assist with setting dies and rollers, reducing manual handling of heavy components. The role involves operating HPM and Davis-Standard machines and using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, all in metric units. Work is performed on 12-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, with openings on first shift (7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) and third shift (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.). When working overtime cycles, the schedule consists of four 12-hour shifts; when not in overtime cycles, the schedule typically includes three 12-hour shifts plus a 4-hour shift on Friday evening.
