Job Description

Classic Cinemas is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Facilities Construction & Maintenance Technician to support construction, remodeling, and maintenance operations across multiple theatre locations throughout Northern Illinois. This role is ideal for a skilled technician with commercial maintenance experience and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a small, fast-paced team. The position involves a wide range of responsibilities including facility repairs, remodeling projects, electrical and plumbing work, theatre equipment installation, and preventative maintenance. Candidates should be self-motivated, safety-focused, and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a physically active environment. Key Responsibilities Perform commercial building maintenance and repair work including plumbing, electrical, lighting, carpentry, flooring, and general facility repairs. Support theatre construction and remodeling projects across multiple locations. Install and repair theatre equipment including speakers, projection systems, screens, seating, and related components. Troubleshoot and repair commercial building systems, lighting systems, and low-voltage wiring. Run and install new cabling through ceilings, attics, walls, and existing building infrastructure. Read and interpret schematics, layouts, and technical instructions related to theatre systems and facility equipment. Safely operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and power tools while following company safety standards. Coordinate effectively with supervisors, contractors, theatre management, and fellow maintenance staff to complete projects efficiently and professionally. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while ensuring projects are completed with a high level of workmanship. Assist with preventative maintenance and emergency service calls as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in commercial maintenance, construction trades, facilities maintenance, or related technical fields preferred. Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lighting, and general commercial building maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues independently and complete repairs with minimal supervision. Experience working with hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolds, and lifts required. Familiarity with commercial building systems, ADA compliance, fire alarm systems, or low-voltage systems is a plus. Must be dependable, safety-oriented, and able to work effectively within a small team environment. Comfortable working early morning shifts, typically beginning between 5:00-6:00 AM and ending by 2:00-3:00 PM. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation required. Basic hand tools required; specialty tools and equipment will be provided. $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
