$ 1 15,860 Duties Maintains and repairs industrial and residential type heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, and refrigeration equipment and systems. Equipment includes restroom fixtures, centrifugal and reciprocating chillers, boilers (gas and electric, hot water and steam), heat pumps, cooling towers, air handling units, water heaters and coolers, pneumatic and electric controls, valves, pumps, water and sewer systems, filters, wet and dry fire sprinkler systems, and air compressors. Installs equipment, fixtures, wiring, conduit and piping. Maintains and repairs electrical equipment and systems up to 480 VAC such as transformers, distribution panels, bus ducts, heaters, emergency generators and transfer switches, uninterruptable power supply systems, batteries, and lighting systems. Maintains and repairs mail distribution systems, overhead doors, building monitoring and control systems, sound masking, CCTV systems, and fire alarm systems. Repairs automatic transfer switches, fire alarm systems, smoke alarm systems, and up to 480 VAC motor control systems. Must be trained on and comply with lock-out/tag-out and clearance safety procedures. Must be familiar with National Electric Code and local building codes. Performs initial troubleshooting of problems related to other equipment such as elevators and fire suppression systems. Operates computerized building control systems to start and stop pumps, lighting, air handlers, chillers, and other equipment. Maintains and repairs portions of the control systems. Certified backflow preventor maintenance capabilities. Participates in and provides on-the-job training. The ability to troubleshoot complex building systems by utilizing schematic diagrams, blueprints. Performs other duties as assigned. All electric work must be performed by qualified (OSHA 1926.32) personnel. Work on electrical systems with voltages greater than 480 VAC must be performed by employees who have certificate and training on file.
Preferred Skill Area:
Installation and maintenance of HVAC systems and advanced plumbing skills
Qualifications Education:
A high school education or equivalent. Must have formal education in the specified trade. Formal education in trade is defined as completion of recognized apprenticeship or graduation from recognized two year program at a technical school.
Work Experience:
Minimum of five years fulltime in a specified trade. Must have five or more years experience in two or more of the following skill areas that have been specified: Installation and maintenance of HVAC systems, power/electrical distribution systems, Electrical and pneumatic control systems, fire detection/protection systems, generator and UPS systems, advanced piping skills, advanced plumbing skills. Certifications:
Must hold and provide EPA 608 Universal Certification for the last five years (required). OSHA 10 Card. WWTP Certification Biological/Natural System Operator with applicable state (when required). Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to legally operate TVA vehicles, up through 1 ton, according to the applicable license requirements, vehicle laws and TVA Procedures (when required by business need).
