BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance repair activities involving City buildings, facilities, and equipment. This is accomplished by performing preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on cooling and air distribution systems, doors, windows, roofs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry repair, furniture assembly and other areas associated with building maintenance. Performs the daily facilities maintenance, custodial duties, renovation activities, this includes maintaining the interior and exterior of city buildings. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1 VH
Performs semi-skilled work in the repair, operation, maintenance of evaporative cooling systems, plumbing maintenance and repair. 2 VH Performs interior maintenance, drywall repair and replacement, painting, and light replacement. 3 VH Reconfigure furniture by assembling and disassembling cubicle and furniture systems. May be required to fabricate and/or reconfigure cubicles, maintain storage units, carpentry repair, and work with sheet rock. 4 VH Performs visual inspections on critical City equipment, recommends repairs and service on backup generators and other equipment. 5 VH Performs administrative functions including but not limited to managing work orders, purchase orders, and parts orders. Assists management with the creation and maintenance of work orders. 6 VH Tests, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures. 7 VH Maintains and repairs plumbing components such as toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, drains, circulation pumps, water heater repair and installation, and installation of domestic hot and cold-water lines. 8 VH Performs building preparation and setup for all City facilities. Room set-ups for meetings and events. 9 VH Dependable and prompt attendance. 10 VH Adhering to safe work practices. Occupational hazards and related safety precautions. 11 VH Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Formal Education/ Knowledge Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. High school diploma or GED equivalency. Experience Minimum of 9
  • 12 months related experience.
Certifications and Other Requirements Valid Driver's License. The job requires a working understanding of common techniques, methods, practices, procedures, use of forms, routines, etc., of an intermediate nature. Reading Work requires the ability to read and comprehend reference books, manuals and related materials. Ability to read work orders, purchase orders, blue prints, general correspondences, memorandums and letters. Math Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Writing Work requires the ability to clearly construct written communication and email correspondence. Work requires the ability to write work orders, purchase orders, general correspondences, memorandums and letters. Managerial Job/position has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others. May show another employee how to perform a task or advice/direction to an employee with less experience/skill or tenure. May train replacement and/or co-worker in own job functions.   • The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Various equipment, including but not limited to: Pressure washer, small hand tools, power tools, HVAC equipment, voltage meter, ladder.
Computer Equipment and Software:
Various office equipment, including but not limited to computer equipment and software, including but not limited to: Telephone, desktop computer, laptop computer, tablets, printers, various Microsoft Office Products, and departmental software.
Protective Equipment Required:
Hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, safety vest, face shield, hearing protection.
Overall Strength Demands:
Very Heavy:
Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50-100 pounds frequently, or from 20 up to 50 pounds constantly.
