FACILITIES SERVICES SPECIALIST ALLOCATION FACTOR
(S) This position will be responsible for facility and operational support of two FWC facilities in Apollo Beach. One of the sites is a youth conservation center that may require some assisting with outdoor educational programing. The other facility is a new fish hatchery center that will concentrate on red drum and sea trout release and production. This 20-acre site is part of a larger 500-acre campus that partners with Tampa Electric, The Florida Aquarium and University of Florida.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Manage the maintenance needs and property improvements at the Marine Fisheries Enhancement Center (MFEC), Suncoast Youth Conservation Center (SYCC), and a portion of the public grounds including out buildings on site. Assist with SYCC and MFEC program activities when needed. Monitor and maintain facilities, property, and equipment for proactive preventative maintenance needs; conduct monthly assessment of maintenance needs; perform repairs as needed to ensure everything is in clean and in good working order. Perform all landscaping duties to site that may include but are not limited to mowing, line trimming, edging, and tree trimming. Assist with projects in the trades fields that include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. Inspect facilities for cleanliness and clean as needed throughout the site. Assist with outdoor educational programing as needed that may include fishing, kayaking, archery, and leading interpretative walks. Assist with MFEC fish collections and releases throughout the region. Maintain interpretative trails and lead groups throughout the site. Lead volunteer groups on environmental projects in coordination with SYCC and/or MFEC Complete logs, files, and documentation accurately and on time. Help create scopes of work for Invitations to Bid and for Requests for Quotations. Perform other related duties as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general methods and techniques used in the repair and/or maintenance of facilities, sites, equipment and grounds. Knowledge of Florida ecosystem functions and resource management techniques required to manage/restore natural communities. Knowledge of fishing, fishing equipment and boating. Knowledge of marine life and their habitats Knowledge in Microsoft programs and familiarity with computers Skills in using a variety of hand and power tools and equipment to perfrom jobs in Carpenty, Electrical and Plumbing. Skills in hauling trailers and equipment to needed locations (training will be provided) Skills in landscaping tools and services Skills in leading groups to include volunteers or classes Ability to be a self starter and motivator Ability to travel, enter and exit a vehicle or/and vessel without assistance, Ability to lift up to 55 pounds Ability to withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Ability to organize and maintain various logs. Ability to be solve problems with little to no supervision Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers Ability to work on a complex team with supervisors Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Years of experience in property maintenance, construction, or landscaping is required for this position. Individuals with maintenance experience, who also have experience with fishing, boating, youth mentorship, education and comparable youth interactions will be given preference. Job Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements Valid Driver's License Within three months of employment, successful completion, and certification in First Aid/CPR/AED, FWC Trailer Training, and Boater Safety Certification. Within nine months successfully complete Kayak level one training and Archery. Other job-related requirements for this position: Travel may be required; program activities may require working weekends and evenings.Working hours:
