Supported by a $90,200 grant from the Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC), we are building a business that proves great agriculture-based education, community spaces and inclusive employment belong together. The Role We are looking for an experienced Farm Director to take operational ownership of the farm and grow it. This is the person who runs the day-to-day, drives marketing, coordinates with our team and job coaches, and develops our specialty breeding programs into the businesses they can be. The current owners are stepping into a strategic role, which means this is a position with real autonomy and real impact. You will be running a complex, varied operation that includes: A field of cut flowers, a field of fruits and a field of mixed vegetables, sold direct through our on-site farmers market A breeding program for Ayam Cemani chickens (hatching eggs, chicks, and mature birds for niche specialty buyers) A rare color Lionhead and Holland Lop rabbit breeding program Mini goats for petting zoo and therapy sold as pets, with regular kidding throughout the year Mini cows and mini horses as agritourism attractions and therapy companions A flock of colorful egg laying hens A coordination relationship with Supported Employment Program Manager, job coaches and adult employees with intellectual disabilities working the on-site market Program alignment with DDRC grant mission and the owners vision What You Will Do Lead all day-to-day farm operations across crops, livestock, and the on-site market Manage and grow our specialty breeding programs — lineage tracking, customer screening, and pricing Drive marketing across the channels that matter for our products: Ayam Cemani specialty communities, rare rabbit breeder networks, local agritourism audiences, social media, and the mission-driven story that makes our farm distinctive Partner with job coaches to structure meaningful, dignified work for our adult employees, and report program outcomes to Encouraging Development Inc Grow agritourism: school visits, family events, mini-animal experiences, and potential venue use of the flower fields Build wholesale relationships with florists, restaurants, and specialty retailers Hire, train, and supervise seasonal farmhands as the operation requires Maintain animal health, welfare, and biosecurity standards across all speciesWhat We Are Looking For Required:
3+ years of experience managing a working farm or comparable agricultural operation Hands-on livestock husbandry experience across multiple species Strong marketing instincts — social media, content creation, niche community engagement, or wholesale relationship-building Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of varying abilities and backgrounds Excellent organizational and people-management skills Reliability and a willingness to be on-site; this is not a remote role and the animals do not take days offPreferred:
Specialty breeding experience in poultry, rabbits, or small ruminants Background in disability services, inclusive employment, or social enterprise Agritourism or direct-to-consumer farm experience Floriculture, cut flower production, or specialty crop background Construction, Irrigation, fencing and/or mechanical experience Compensation and Benefits Starting salary: $50,000 Profit share on specialty animal and flower sales — we want you invested in growing these programs Paid time off [Add:
health insurance contribution, on-site housing if applicable, professional development budget, retirement match, or other benefits offered] Why This Job Is Different Most farm director roles ask you to manage one thing well. This one asks you to bring together livestock expertise, breeding-program savvy, niche marketing, agritourism vision, and the kind of leadership that helps adults with disabilities thrive in real work. If that combination excites you rather than intimidates you, we want to hear from you. To Apply Please send a resume and a brief letter telling us why this role and this mission appeal to you. We are especially interested in hearing about the kind of farm you would want to build with us. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
