Farm Equipment Operator/Pesticide Applicator

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Experience operating large tractors on a vegetable or grain farm
• License to apply pesticides in New York or the ability to obtain a license within two years of hire date.
• CDL or ability to obtain a CDL within two years of hire date.
• Mechanically inclined
• Basic knowledge of farm pesticides and pest identification
• Excellent driving record
• Accurately reads field maps
• Ability to pass a CDL physical examination
• Ability to where a respirator and pass a respirator fit test.
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Ability to read, write and speak in English is required
• Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
• Successful completion of a background check is required
• This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand (8 hours a day or more), lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more), reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs), climbing, gripping, grasping and twisting using hands and wrists, bending and stooping for long periods of time, working below knee levels for short periods of time and working above shoulder level for short periods Pay and Benefits • Pay rate is $28-35/hr • Health Plan • Retirement plan • Vacation, Sick time and Holiday pay • Short-Term Disability Insurance Responsibilities • Responsible for correctly customizing and applying dry fertilizers to our fields and operating all applicator equipment including performing maintenance on the equipment • Recommends and applies pesticides and fertilizers by driving and operating various vehicles and equipment • Maintains accurate logbooks on applicated acres • Performs maintenance and calibration on application equipment • Follows up on pest control in sprayed areas • Wears proper protection equipment • Participates in continuing education for maintaining pesticide applicator license • Attends applicator equipment workshops • Performs maintenance on other equipment and fixed facilities • Pulls soil samples • Mixes and applies dry and liquid fertilizer • Researches and purchases fertilizer and pesticides • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader • Reliable and regular attendance is required • Follows all company policies and procedures • The work environment for this position will be in an outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.

• Candidate will be expected to work 40-60 hours per week from March thru Nov and 20-30 hours per week during Dec, Jan and Feb. Overtime is paid for hours worked over 52 in a week.
• When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, you may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and extreme temperatures.

Pay:
