Workers pick ripe peaches from tree by gently pulling off the branch and placing in sack without bruising the fruit. Worker may need to place a ladder on the tree to pick fruit that cannot be reached by standing on the ground. Worker will pick according to grade, color and size by grasping fruit with the hands and removing from the tree in a motion so as not to harm adjacent fruit, buds or tree branches. Worker will carry full harness, bucket or bag and place fruit into wooden or plastic bins. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent bruising of fruit or breaking of branches. Some workers may be required to examine harvested fruit and sort out any fruit not meeting the grade, color and size specifications. Workers may prune, thin, pack and pick peaches during the season along with perform orchard maintenance consisting of but not limited to mowing, weeding, spraying, irrigating and planting. Job involves prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no costs of the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not part of the interview process. Negative results may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Workers may assist in loading of trucks by lifting boxes of fruit up to 75 pounds to a height of 5 feet or more repeatedly. Must be able to lift 75lobs to shoulder height repetitively throughout the workday and able to lift and carry up to 75lbs in field. Must not hinder another worker's productivity. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic devices during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. Though not a hiring requirement, if a worker drives a company vehicle during the period of employment then at the time of operating the company vehicle, the driver must possess a valid drivers license by a U.S. State or foreign equivalent and operate the company vehicle in accordance with license restrictions and vehicle classification applicable to the license. This job requires 1 month verifiable farmworker experience as a peach orchard worker. Work may also include mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limitation, power equipment may include tractors, mowers and other equipment. Workers will be expected to be able to operate agricultural equipment with or without direction. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning and heat of the day while working in the fields. Temperatures may range from 10F to +100F. Workers will be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Workers may be required to perform work that is incidental to farming the crops listed in the job specification. All other duties, if assigned, will be those duties of a farm worker, Diversified Crops, DOT code 407.687-010 (SOC (ONET/OES) Code 45-2092.02. This is a very competitive business in which quality specifications must be rigorously adhered to. Sloppy work cannot and will not be tolerated
