Associate Farm Manager This is a seasonal part-time hourly position that will run from mid-May to November. The hiring range for this position is $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience. Weekly hours will vary but will average 20-30 hours per week. This position will regularly include evening and weekend hours. Job Summary The Seasonal Operations Specialist will support the operations of the farm by performing general property maintenance, perennial crop management, and general equipment and infrastructure repair. To succeed in this position, the Operations Specialist needs to be collaborative, a proactive communicator, an independent worker, organized with attention to detail, curious, and have a dedication to working with communities who face discrimination in farming. This position is based at our farm office in Marine on St. Croix, MN and will include routine work at our New Hope microfarm and Agrisolar farm located in Big Lake, MN. Duties and Responsibilities Assist with general farm operations, including mowing, trimming, equipment work, and perennial crop maintenance across all farm sites Independently and safely operate equipment-mowers, trimmers, tractors Perform occasional equipment maintenance, and infrastructure repairs Restock general supplies across the farm related to food safety and building maintenance Perform routine food safety monitoring Perform general pest management. Including trapping and disposal of mice, gopher, and other rodents. Provide occasional support for education classes, on farm events, off-farm events, and our annual Emerging Farmers Conference. Other duties as assigned by supervisor Minimum Experience At least 1 season of work experience in the sustainable agriculture field. At least 1 year of experience working with small engines (mower, trimmer) and other small equipment. All employees must pass a pre-employment background screening Licenses and/or Certifications Valid MN driver's license and clean driving record. Dependable transportation is required for traveling between sites. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair Familiar with basic hand tools, power tools, and building repair Familiar with equipment use and small engines Comfortable with pest management tasks, specifically related to rodents Must be able to lift 50 lbs Safe driving skills Must be able to work effectively with partners who are significantly diverse with respect to age, race, ethnicity, gender orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, and religion Must be able to work effectively in an organization that has recognized its own issues related to equity, and is seeking to be more representative of the community Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication across various cultures Strong organizational and planning skills Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities Basic numeracy & computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google and Excel on PCs. Working Conditions and Environment This position will work from Big River Farms in Marine on St. Croix, MN and will include routine work at our New Hope microfarm and Agrisolar farm located in Big Lake, MN. This position primarily works outdoors. All locations are accessible and smoke free. This position regularly works during evenings and weekends.
