Farmhand - Project Focus

Brushy Prairie Packing is looking for a dependable, hands-on person to join our team as a Project Farm Hand. Work will be performed on-site at Gunthorp Farms. This is a practical, outdoor role for someone who enjoys working with animals, building and fixing things, and taking ownership of a job from start to finish. The work will be a mix of animal care, pasture moves, pen preparation, fencing, and farm projects like building or repairing skids, waterers, shades, coops, and other infrastructure. We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things well, notices details, and can work independently once they understand the job. A good fit for this role will be comfortable around livestock, able to handle physical work, and willing to learn the way we care for animals on pasture. What You'll Be Doing You'll help with day-to-day care for pigs, including shelter, water, feed, fence, and pasture rotations. You'll also help prepare pens ahead of animal moves and farrowing, repair and maintain fencing, move feeders and supplies, and work on farm construction and repair projects. Some days will be focused more on chores and animal care. Other days will be more project-based, building or repairing the things that keep the farm running smoothly.

Reliable and consistent Comfortable doing physical outdoor work Able to lift and carry heavy items Interested in livestock and farm work Handy with tools, building, repairs, or mechanical tasks Able to work alone and stay productive Willing to learn and improve over time Previous farm experience is helpful, but a strong work ethic, good attitude, and willingness to learn are just as important.
