Jobs › West Brookfield, MA › Farmworkers and Laborers Crop& AEO Ragged Hill Orchard Farmworkers and Laborers Crop& AEO West Brookfield, MA Apply 1 Full Time Seasonal H-2A Job available 07/15/2026 - 11/07/2026. This work order is for willing, able, and qualified individuals with at least 3 months of prior orchard or farm work experience to perform a variety of tasks involved in the operation of an orchard growing apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, and berries. Workers will perform a variety of orchard tasks, including planting, pruning, training, and watering trees, as well as general orchard maintenance. Workers will hand-pick fruit from trees using ladders up to 24 feet high and will carefully place the fruit into shoulder-harnessed picking buckets. When the picking bucket needs to be emptied, the worker will climb down the ladder and gently empty the fruit into designated field containers. Workers will also perform building and equipment maintenance and repair as needed. Workers will repair bulk bins and pallets and may use hand tools, including but not limited to shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, knives, staplers, and other related tools as needed. Workers will perform harvesting and packing tasks, which include, but are not limited to: sorting fruit according to size, color, and grade; lining boxes, cartons, or crates with treated paper or cardboard; placing fruit in containers for storage or shipment; weighing, stamping, branding, and dating containers; and packing fruit according to the employers quality standards and methods. The assigned duties are physically demanding and require prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders. Workers must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Workers are expected to report to work in suitable clothing and be willing and able to perform duties in a range of weather conditions typical of summer and fall, including hot, humid days and cool, damp conditions. Workers may be asked to operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers who do drive will still perform the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. Workers may be required to work 8-hour shifts within the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm from Monday through Saturday. Workers may offer to work on Sunday, subject to mutual agreement between the employer and the worker. This schedule totals 48 hours per week. The 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. range accounts for varying orchard conditions (e.g., weather or crop readiness) to ensure that workers are able to complete the required weekly hours. Workers will not be scheduled for a full 12-hour. Workers will be given a 30-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers and management. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. The daily and weekly work schedules may vary depending on orchard conditions, including weather, sunlight, temperature, and crop readiness. The employer will notify workers of any changes to the schedule.
