University Student Assistant -
Martin's Family Clothing Behavioral Laboratory Department:
Management and Marketing Position Summary The Martin's Family Clothing Behavioral Laboratory in the Department of Management and Marketing seeks a dependable and detail-oriented Student Assistant to support ongoing behavioral research. The lab is equipped with the iMotions biometric research platform integrating eye-tracking, facial expression analysis, and electrodermal activity (EDA/GSR) hardware, and conducts studies examining how consumers perceive, evaluate, and respond to marketing stimuli. The Student Assistant will work directly with the lab's directors, Dr. Mark J. Sciuchetti Jr., to run experimental sessions, recruit study participants, manage data, and maintain the lab environment. This position offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge biometric research technology and the opportunity to contribute to published academic research in consumer behavior. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants' skills, qualifications, and departmental needs. Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage biometric research platform (iMotions), and conduct sessions with participants including eye-tracking, facial expression, and electrodermal sensors (GSR) as per research protocols.
  • Check in/out study participants; provide informed-consent forms and answer general participant questions regarding study instructions.
  • Recruit study participants via classroom and campus-wide outreach, flyers, and internet postings.
  • Input appointments into the lab's scheduling calendar.
  • Clean up and organize study data; perform general data entry and coding as needed under faculty guidance.
  • Conduct research reviews and compile journal articles, per the lab co-director's direction.
  • Upskeep of lab space including set-up and take-down of study equipment; maintain supply storage and lab organization to ensure tidy research environment.
  • Prepare study equipment including ensuring that biometric sensors are calibrated and functioning properly prior to participant session.
  • Set-up stimuli and assist with preparation of study materials (surveys, stimulus material, study copy protocols, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications Marketing major or minor within the College of Business and Industry Completion of a minimum of one (1) marketing courses Interest in consumer behavior, marketing research, or psychology Completion of, or willingness to complete, CITI Program human-subjects research training Reporting Structure This position reports to the lab co-directors: Dr. Mark J. Sciuchetti Jr. , Associate Professor (Chemistry and Geosciences / Management and Marketing) Hours and Schedule Approximately 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters; scheduling is flexible around the student's class schedule. Hours may vary based on the lab's research calendar and study-session needs. Maximum of 20 hours per week. Required Documents Cover Letter Resume
