Job Description

Kit Carson Internet is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Fiber Optic Staking Technician to join our growing team. This is more than a job—it's an opportunity to make a direct impact by designing and supporting the expansion of reliable fiber optic service to homes and businesses across our communities.
What You'll Do:
Design & Stake Fiber Projects Plan and stake new fiber routes, customer drops, and system expansions while ensuring projects meet all design specifications and construction standards. Field Work Meets Technology Use mapping, staking, drafting, and database software to design efficient fiber infrastructure and maintain accurate system records. Work Directly with Customers & Landowners Coordinate easements and rights-of-way, answer customer questions, and develop practical facility locations that work for everyone.

Inspect completed facilities, maintain accurate equipment records, and help ensure all projects meet code, safety, and construction requirements.

Partner with engineering, operations, and field staff to support new service connections, system upgrades, and long-term network reliability.
What you bring:
Ensure Quality & Compliance Collaborate Across Teams Experience in fiber optic construction, utility staking, telecommunications, or utility line design Knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure and basic understanding of electric utility systems Familiarity with mapping/GIS, CAD, databases, and spreadsheets Understanding of rights-of-way, easements, and permitting Working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred Comfortable working both outdoors in the field and indoors in an office setting Valid New Mexico driver's license with insurable driving record required Apply online at: https://kitcarson.com/community/employment/
