Job Description

The Fiberglass Technician will perform detailed estimates for fiberglass and gelcoat repairs and provide accurate information to Service Advisors. Assist Service Advisors in clearly communicating repair needs and costs to customers. Upon customer approval, complete all required fiberglass repairs to restore the boat to proper condition. The fiberglass tech must have a keen eye for detail, patience and diligence to get the job completed. The Fiberglass tech must not only be driven to achieve results but also committed to doing it the "Gordy Way" by always living, and ensuring the team is living, the company culture and values, which is built on hard work, integrity, teamwork, and having a positive attitude. Pay base on experience, $24/hour and up, in addition to efficiency billables

Essential Job Duties:
Inspect boats to assess fiberglass damage and prepare accurate repair estimates. Communicate repair needs and timelines to Service Advisors for customer approval. Perform fiberglass repairs, including patching, sanding, gelcoat application, finishing, and detailing. Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely job completion. Document completed work and materials used for accurate records.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in fiberglass repair, gelcoat application, or marine bodywork preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Ability to read and follow repair estimates and work orders. Good communication and teamwork skills. Problem-solving ability to determine the best repair techniques for each job.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in varied positions (standing, kneeling, bending) for extended periods. Exposure to chemicals, dust, and noise—must follow safety guidelines and wear protective equipment.
Travel Requirements:
None Work Schedule Requirements:
Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm Off season, opportunity to work Monday - Thursday 7 am to 5 pm Shop/repair setting with hands-on work. Full-time schedule with potential overtime during peak seasons.
