Specializing in Concrete Finishing Core Purpose Execute Concrete work independently and consistently, ensuring quality, efficiency, and professionalism while contributing to jobsite flow and problem-solving. Primary Responsibilities 1. Independent Concrete Execution Set forms for slabs, stoops, sidewalks, and small foundations Prepare subgrade and base (grading, compaction, stone placement) Place, screed, float, edge, and finish concrete independently Cut and tool control joints with proper timing and layout Monitor mix consistency, weather conditions, and finishing windows Maintain consistent finish quality across varying site conditions 2. Efficiency & Productivity Management Maintain steady production without sacrificing quality Sequence work logically to avoid rework or downtime Adjust pace based on crew size, weather, and job conditions Recognize and correct productivity slowdowns 3. Layout, Accuracy & Judgment Perform layout for common concrete work Maintain square, level, and finish consistency Identify site or substrate issues early Make sound field decisions within scope 4. Crew Coordination & Support Direct Tenders and Junior Masons effectively Set clear expectations for support tasks Keep labor productive and aligned with workflow Maintain a respectful, professional crew dynamic Required Skills & Traits Strong mastery of concrete finishing techniques Solid layout and sequencing skills Situational judgment and adaptability Clear communication and leadership presence Physical & Position Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods (8-10 hours) Must be able to lift, carry, and handle materials up to 80 lbs regularly Must be able to perform repetitive motions (bending, kneeling, lifting, reaching) Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) Must be comfortable working on uneven terrain and active job sites Must be able to safely operate basic hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment Growth Path Laborer → Tender → Junior Mason → Field Mason → Senior Mason
